Pearson Elementary Celebrates 70 Years of Excellence

Pearson Elementary reached a remarkable milestone this year—its 70th anniversary—and celebrated in grand fashion on September 6, 2025. The special event honored seven decades of educational excellence and community impact. Past principals, staff members, teachers, and alumni were invited to join in commemorating this momentous occasion, filling the campus with familiar faces and heartfelt memories.

Guests were treated to a walk through Pearson’s history, featuring photographs and memorabilia that captured the school’s legacy across the decades. From its humble beginnings to its thriving present, the display served as a testament to Pearson’s lasting influence in Mission CISD.

Among the distinguished speakers was Dolores Reyna, MCISD School Board President, who delivered a touching and reflective address about the school’s role in shaping generations of learners and leaders. “It is such an honor to join you today as we celebrate 70 years of Lucille Pearson Elementary School,” she began, setting the tone for an inspiring tribute to the campus and its community.

Mrs. Reyna went on to express her admiration for the school’s legacy and enduring spirit. “I want to say how proud we are of this campus,” she shared, highlighting the countless achievements of Pearson’s students and staff over the years. She reflected on how Pearson Elementary has been more than just a school—“it has been a home for learning, a place where friendships are built and where students discover their potential.

Indeed, Pearson’s impact extends far beyond the classroom. From lawyers to state representatives and professionals in every field imaginable, alumni of Pearson Elementary continue to make meaningful contributions to society. Each success story reflects the school’s unwavering commitment to education and community growth.

Mrs. Reyna credited the dedication of Pearson’s educators and support staff for the school’s long-standing success. “Because of the dedication of the teachers and staff, Pearson has continued to shine as a beacon of excellence in our district,” she said, acknowledging the hard work and passion that have defined the school for decades.

As the celebration came to a close, Mrs. Reyna left the audience with a hopeful vision for the future: “With the continued support of our families and our community and our district, I know Pearson will be thriving for the next 70 years.

For seventy years, Lucille Pearson Elementary has stood as a pillar of learning, leadership, and legacy. With a strong foundation built on dedication, pride, and community spirit, there is no doubt that its next seventy years will be just as bright.
