On May 13, 2016, 5th graders from Pearson Elementary experienced being interviewed by members of our community in an effort to expose them to the college interview process. Led by our counselor, Mrs. Lina Candelaria, students created resumes which were presented to the interviewers during the process. Hand shake, eye contact, verbal expression, and posture were just a couple of things the students worked on leading up to the interview. A special thank you goes out to the following community members that volunteered their time to this endeavor: Melissa Davis, Liza Garcia, Randy Perez, Jessie Trevino, Nancy Villarreal, Anita Trevino, and Debbie Navaro.

Coach Koy Detmer visited Pearson Elementary on Friday May 6, 2016 during the STAAR Pep Rally. Being a local legend, the surprise appearance left a lasting impression on students and staff alike. He spoke to the students about the importance of academics and striving to be the best. On behalf of the staff and students of Pearson Elementary, we would like to thank Coach Detmer for being a part of our STAAR Rally!

Read engaging digital books on computers, tablets and other devices from school or home 24/7. Readers will be able to choose from a collection that includes thousands of titles in a variety of genres and formats. Students will be able to read these books independently or activate audio and text highlighting to support their reading. An embedded dictionary provides help with pronunciation and definitions for words they may not know.
There is no limit to the number of times readers can read a book or to the number of
children who can read the same book at the same time. All books are available whenever a reader chooses to access them: during the day or evening, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Mission CISD officials have announced an upcoming parent conference focusing on drug awareness. The event is open to any parents. The conference will be held at Veterans Memorial High School, on Saturday, April 30, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Parents of currently enrolled students in a Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) school can begin to register their children for the 2016-2017 school year, using the district’s online system beginning on Monday, April 4.

Pearson Elementary kicked off National Library Week with Jason Garrett, football coach of the Dallas Cowboys, on April 11, 2016. Chapter One of Charlotte's Web was read aloud to everyone. Students, parents, and staff were encouraged to wear Dallas Cowboys apparel in honor of the kick off.
