4th and 5th grade students at Pearson Elementary gathered after school to try out in the hopes of becoming part of MCISD’s reigning robotics champions the Pearson Microbots. Along with Co-Coach Zeke Gutierrez, Mr. Garza will assemble his 2016-2017 Microbots team after evaluating each student’s strengths and weaknesses. Good luck… and my the odds be ever in your favor!

This past school year (2015-2016) Pearson Elementary was presented a challenge. The challenge was named Robotics and this journey began on a bumpy road. Along with Co-Coach Zeke Gutierrez and 10 dedicated students, this road smoothed out. Weekly tasks were completed without a problem. The teamwork these students showed was AWESOME! These tasks were helping us prepare for the January competition. The day for this competition against 200+ schools was here. The day flew by and before we knew it we were back home. A few weeks later we were notified that the Pearson Microbots finished in first place amongst the 14 MCISD elementary schools. The Microbot members and coaches worked hard and had fun. We would like to thank Mrs. Melissa E. Davis, Ms. Velma Flores, and the staff and students of Pearson Elementary for their support. The Microbots look forward to doing it all over again this school year.

Reading advocacy does not end when our kids leave school. We know the vital role the community plays in the reading success of our students. The staff at Pearson Elementary would like to invite you to our Family Reading Event. This event brings awareness to the importance of reading at school and at home. During this time, you will be allowed to read books with your child/children and create memories that will last for a lifetime. What a great opportunity for the parents/community members of Pearson Elementary to bring awareness to the importance of reading. We look forward to seeing you here.

Mission CISD is holding its 2nd Annual Canned Food Drive. The top 3 campuses that collect the most canned food will be receiving a prize. The last day to bring in canned foods is December 9, 2016. Click on attachment for more information. Thank you!

Still need to take care of a few back to school errands like immunizations, registration, sports physicals, or haircuts? Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) has scheduled a special event for Friday, August 5 to help Mission CISD families deal with some of the last minute items.

Mission CISD will provide a full-day pre-kindergarten program for children who are four years of age on or before September 1, 2016, and who meet all regular Mission CISD registration requirements.

On Friday, November 11, 2016, Pearson Elementary will be hosting a Students vs. Teachers basketball game. Students are invited to attend the event. Please see attachment for more information. Thank you!
